Job Functions:
Develop and validate new analytical methods and implement improvements to existing methods to support both new and existing products. This includes conducting designed experiments and applying statistical techniques to determine test method capabilities and limitations, creating laboratory standards, developing calibration techniques, establishing test method parameter and analytical procedures, and conducting training for analysts on new methods.
Evaluate and introduce new analytical technologies to expand the companies capabilities
Function as an information source of analytical expertise at the company
Transfer new analytical methods and improvements to QC group
Generate and review technical documents including work instructions, technical reports, and customer presentations
Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments. Manage contracts and interactions with vendors.
Investigate and troubleshoot analytical and QC problems
Manage contract and outside analytical services
Conduct Safety Reviews and maintain high standard in lab and safety practices
Skills and Experience Required:
Preferably Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of industrial experience. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as gas chromatography (GC), mass spectroscopy, FTIR, thermal stability testing (e.g. DSC/TGA) and NMR. Experience with handling and analysing air/moisture sensitive materials including both gases and liquids are highly desired. Knowledge and experience in semiconductor applications are a plus.
The candidate will possess fundamental Six Sigma knowledge (e.g. applying statistical techniques to determine test method capabilities) combined with demonstrated ability to efficiently design, execute and implement analytical projects. In addition, a track record of new analytical method development and delivering results with deadlines is highly desired.
Mechanical aptitude (as evidenced by having designed, constructed and operated metal vacuum-compatible systems and their associated pumping systems) is a plus.
