Sr. Bio-Software Engineer Breathe Technologies
Breathe Technologies, Inc., is a developer and manufacturer of innovative medical technologies for treating lung diseases and sleep-disordered breathing. The company was founded in January 2005, and their ventilator, featuring the company?s proprietary, open-airway platform, is cleared for use in both the institutional and homecare settings. All positions are based in Irvine, CA.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The purpose of the senior bio-software engineer is to innovate, and to develop concepts, algorithms and software in a research and development group that would lead the future treatment of sleep related disorders. In particular, this position will support the development and research activities with emphasis in the development of detection and signal pattern recognition algorithms. Candidate must be willing to work night shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Develop software algorithm concepts with deep understanding of the physics and physiology involved in the system.
? Develop and generate well thought ideas that demonstrate knowledge and understanding of prior art.
? Establish preliminary hypothesis, problem statements and product concept end point.
? Communicate effectively and precisely, understanding that communication means and language depends on the audience.
? Review board design for the purpose of understanding source of issues.
? Define and implement high performance software by leveraging a strong understanding of embedded hardware design
? Execute feasibility clinical trials.
? Develop and create sounded IP that would align with company intellectual strategy.
? Drive the design, implementation of company?s medical device algorithms.
? Architect, design and develop software for microcontroller-based medical products.
? Leverage their technical expertise to strengthen the activities of cross-functional teams
SKILLS / APTITUDES:
? Working knowledge and understanding of graduate level algorithm in the areas of digital processing, control systems applied to biomedical applications.
? Working knowledge of embedded real-time programming in C/C++.
? Working knowledge of C#, Java or C++.
? Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
? Ability to work well in a small team environment and make significant individual contributions.
? Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
? Willingness to react quickly to urgent situations and a ?get the job done? attitude
? Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects involving a variety of resources with defined deadlines/schedules
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
? BS in Electrical engineering and/or biomedical engineering with 3/4+ years software development experience
? At least a master degree or higher in electrical, software or biomedical engineering with concentration in controls, signal processing and/or control applications.
? Proven history of creating intellectual property with strong business strategic purpose.
? Experience with assembly, C, and C++ language development environment including the tools used to edit, compile/assemble and debug code in an embedded and PC environment
? Experience with respiratory research and/or development problems preferred.
