Sr Business Intelligence Engineer - Microstrategy Empirix
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (MicroStrategy) will work within the Analytics and Prediction team to create the MicroStrategy Schema Objects for the projects, as well as design, develop, test, maintain and support data analytics and reporting solutions. The individual will work closely in a team consisting of BI Engineers, Solutions Architects, Data Warehouse Engineers, Business Analysts, System Analysts, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Database Administrators in developing complex MicroStrategy reports / applications and data warehouse solutions to meet stated requirements, as well as help in developing detailed specifications and unit test plans for implementation. Design and architect the MicroStrategy Schema Objects and create complex MicroStrategy reports and Dynamic Dashboards, utilizing advanced components such as: advanced metrics, filters, extensive knowledge/experience of graph/widgets, and performance tuning with VLDB properties.
Provide innovative creative reporting solutions to complex business goals, including design, development and implementation of reports and documents.
Perform detailed data analysis, validation, and identify data quality issues.
Tune MicroStrategy reports for best SQL performance to run efficiently in a large data volume environment.
Create/Manage ad-hoc reports as requested and provide on-going analytical support for these requests.
Maintaining optimal performance/quality of BI application and providing input to application design regarding production tuning and administration requirements.
Administering and maintaining the MicroStrategy environments and providing operational support when necessary
Assess new initiatives to determine the work effort and estimate the necessary time-to-completion.
Create test plans and scenarios for development unit testing.
Document new development, procedures or test plans as needed.
Participate in data builds and deployment efforts.
Participate in projects through various phases.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must be passionate, flexible and innovative in utilizing all up to date available tool functionality, experience, and any other resources, to effectively deliver to very challenging and always changing business requirements with continuous success.
Must be able to interface with various stakeholder groups to understand the requirements and prepare documentation to support development.
Must understand complex object design and the underlying data model of the system, as well as have a highly skilled attention to the business requirements details.
Must have a clear understanding of BI, Data Warehouse operating environments and related technologies.
Minimum 2-3 years? experience with MicroStrategy 9 Desktop, Architect, Report Services - Dynamic Dashboards, Web, Intelligence Server, Distribution Services, Multisource, Clustering, Object Manager, OLAP Services, Transaction Services and Mobile.
Ability to help drive and implement design, development, and usage of the MicroStrategy product suite.
Strong native SQL skills.
Strong experience in data warehousing concepts and techniques.
Experience with low latency (near real time) analytics systems and working with Tb data sets, loading and processing billions of records per day.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
Ability to complete the full lifecycle of software development and deliver on time.
Ability to work w/end users to gather requirements and convert that to working documents.
Strong interpersonal skills w/a heads-up programming attitude.
MicroStrategy administration experience in UNIX/LINUX environment is a plus
MicroStrategy SDK experience is a plus
Telecoms experience a plus.
Three to five years of experience in a related position demonstrating the position responsibilities outlined above.
Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
