The Senior Controls/Electrical Engineer?s role is to provide Engineering, Design and Programming services for the Engineered Products group. Responsibility will include key involvement in all phases of development, design, execution and field support of the controls and electrical designs of all industrial and renewable solutions products/projects.
The Controls/Electrical Engineer will also play a key role in developing electrical & PLC programming design standards and practices for all industrial related products & projects.
Serve as primary contact for controls related issues.
Develop standards for PLC logic/designs and selection.
Attend Bid, Kick-Off/turnover and Project Meetings as required.
Support proposals by providing a final and completely reconciled Controls scope of supply.
Develop standard detailed controls/automation sequence of operation for projects.
Produce complete controls architecture drawings, bill of materials and programming for projects as assigned.
Make recommendations for new product development and/or product standards based on industrial market requirements.
Continually evaluate Turbine Air Systems? control technology position in the market place and provide recommendations to management for change.
Develop standards sets of HMI interface screen that will support industrial products/systems
Participate in the detailed and through system functional checkout for all equipment prior to shipment.
Responsible for starter and MCC selections, conduit and conductor sizing, transformers and motor-operated equipment.
Develop one-line diagrams, schematics and equipment layout drawings.
Support development of electrical design standards, practices and procedures.
Specify and assist purchasing all engineered electrical products such as transformers, MCC?s, PDC?s and starters.
Assist manufacturing/testing as necessary to resolve electrical or controls design issues
Establish QA and QC requirements for production and perform QC checks or oversee same when required.
Compile all electrical O&M information, transmit critical O&M information during the design phase of the project and assist in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals.
Participate in relevant planning forums to provide inputs in regards to technology development and competitors.Support projects in the field as required, including site work if necessary.
Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS.
Highly motivated, self-starter with a strong working knowledge of PLC controls and automation systems specifically in the power generation, refrigeration, and process industries.
Highly organized and responsible. Must be comfortable in handling controls projects in excess of $500,000.
Strong technical aptitude and the ability to read, support development of, and interpret P&ID?s.
Familiarity with current industry philosophies with regard to controls/automation system design, integration and operation.
Strong experience in PLC based system design, programming. (Rockwell Automation preferred).
Experience in developing and implementing Man-Machine-Interfaces-MMI. WonderWare, PanelMate.
Experience in coordinating system integrating with other systems-Gateways, Com Links, etc.
Field commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
Excellent communication and customer management skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
Strong CAD skills-AutoCAD-R2000 or later.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced, often changing environment.
Ability to multi-task over several projects and manage conflicting priorities.
Experience with analysis of compliance with NEC, IEC, NFPA and other local and international codes.
Proficient at Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related software.
Estimating and bid tabulation experience is a must
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
MUST HAVE Power generation plant experience, particularly with gas turbines.
Industrial HVAC, energy service contracting or central chilled water plant experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in design engineering and or electrical project engineering.
Experience designing skid mounted, packaged electrical equipment for both low and medium voltage applications for domestic and international projects.
Experience with large industrial chillers and chiller systems are a plus.
Minimum 10 years as a Controls/Electrical Engineer for an Equipment Packager or Systems Integrator.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year program or qualified work experience.
A substitution of military leadership and/or technical work experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
Availability to travel to both domestic and international job sites.
Ability to work in field construction locations, including climbing ladders is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
