Sr. Data Engineer Shazam
Are you interested in Big Data? We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to help Shazam gain insights and build new features from massive data sets generated by our 300 million users.
Data Engineers build real-time and batch processing apps, perform ad-hoc data analysis and visualizations, create business reports and model data for machine learning. Although our data platform is written in Java, expect to pick up a number of new languages on the job.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
Research and experiment with emerging technologies and tools related to data analytics and Big Data
Build REST APIs so our apps and partners can easily access our data
Develop and implement data engineering, data warehousing, and business intelligence solutions
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
Held a senior engineering role writing Java applications with an active interest and ability to learn new programming languages quickly on the job
Experience mining and processing large datasets generated by a large user base
Experience writing apps on top of nosql databases
Ability to write code that will perform at a large scale
Experience with implementation of and general interest in data modeling and machine learning
Minimum of 7+ years developing production grade software with previous experience working on a large-scale distributed systems.
Desired Industry Experience
Experience mining data using Pig Latin
Experience writing Map Reduce programs using the Hadoop API over EMR
Experience writing Storm apps
Experience modeling data using Mahout
Experience building data visualisations using web-based frameworks
Experience building web-based applications with an understanding of web standards
