Sr. Database Administrator - MS SQL Server Appia

Provides application level, administrative, and logistical support for MS SQL 2005/2008 and other databases as necessary. Collects data and assists in the creation of the preliminary logical database architectures. Provides assistance to the development staff and performs database maintenance support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists and lead with the logical and physical database design, implementation, database maintenance and performance issues
Assists and lead with the development and maintenance of standards and procedures, and guidelines for accessing corporate databases by the development staff and end-users. Gathers initial database design criteria and assists with the development of the model
Assists in the preparation of space utilization and uptime reports
Participates in data modeling and access methods
Maintains data dictionary information, data key word lists, forms, etc
Controls and coordinates maintenance of the data dictionary contents
Provides on-call support for database problems
Troubleshoots and performs necessary tuning to enhance performance
Performs daily tasks related to databases in all environments
Latitude of Decision-Making:
Acting as lead DBA. Working directly with developers and product managers to conceptualize, build, test and realize products
Minimum Job Requirements:
8+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
5+ years as a DBA supporting a high volume transactional production environment
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or computer technology) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training in project management and /or business analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must possess excellent t-sql coding skills for ad-hoc request and data layer requirements
Must have transactional replication experience
Desired Skills:
Data warehouse experience preferred. Including OLAP / MS Analysis Services
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certifications preferred
SQL Server 2008 Clustering experience preferred
Dell Equal logic SAN knowledge a plus
Business Objects knowledge a plus
