The Evenflo Design Engineer is responsible for product development in the areas of new product, sustainability of existing product and product support and Right Cost to Quality (RCQ) ? taking the product from concept through production. The Design Engineer takes marketing requirements and demands and develops alternative concepts to bring the concept to life including identifying the key components of the product considering cost, design for manufacturability and tooling options. This position is very hands on, working closely with the model shop, making mock ups and prototypes. Travel to China is required.
Examples of Typical Activities:
Interact and brainstorm with marketing and peers
Work with tooling to confirm tooling feasibility
Performing tolerance stack-ups and leading DFMEA?s
Create BOM and send for quotes
CAD design (Surfacing and mechanisms)
Work with suppliers through procurement
Work with Product Integrity to confirm safety needs are achieved
Planning and Scheduling with and traveling to China manufacturing facilities
Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering is required; 5 years minimum experience with design for manufacturing

Ability to conceptualize and bring to fruition innovation solutions for market needs
Understanding of Plastics and Mechanism Design
Proficiency with Solid Modeling (Preferred Pro E)
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Proficient in Project Management
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Demonstrated understanding of BOM and Engineering Change Notices
Design for Manufacturability
Desired Secondary Competencies
Consumer products experience
Experience with the Asian Market
Demonstrated experience working on a cross functional team.
