Sr. Director of Product Development 2U, Inc.
What We're Looking For:
The Sr. Director of Product Development will mentor and manage a group of Product Development Managers (PDM?s) as they design and drive external learning system & internal business system projects to fruition. As the link across multiple, but related, system projects, the Sr. Dir. of PD assesses project interdependencies and facilitates cross-talk & collaboration between dedicated product teams. He or she ensures projects for individual products are in line with the larger area?s goals and strategy. With the area?s global view he/she also works with the VP of Project and VP of Tech Strategy and Process to evolve the SDLC and SCRUM processes and surrounding communication. The Sr. Dir. of PD will continually monitor the health of ongoing projects and work to improve product development strategy and process. He/she will also lead global projects/initiatives that cross products in the area of learning & business systems. Candidate should be technical, familiar with Agile and Scrum, and have worked previously as a Product Owner, Project Manager, Developer or Stakeholder within an Agile software development methodology.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Manage and mentor a team of Product Development Managers as they design and deliver high quality products
Facilitate communication across Technology teams working on different but related learning and business systems projects
Assist PDM?s in maintenance of roadmaps for the various business & learning systems products
Helping to resolve schedule and resources conflicts as needed
Assist VP Project in establishing best practices for managing and monitoring project health
Support the development of process flows, policies, procedures and training materials
Flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, people, produce quality work, and consistently meet tight deadlines
Very good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
Things That Should Be in Your Background:
Experience managing and mentoring direct reports
Experience working with Salesforce, CRM or other internal business system(s)
Work experience in Education technology
Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Candidates who possess both higher education/higher education technology and project/product management backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience required
Direct exposure and role in a software development process; demonstrate knowledge of end to end software development process
Well versed in process; experience developing/contributing to process design
Experience in Agile/Scrum Software Development Methodologies
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of various integrated systems
Experience with customer support and/or sales is a plus
