Blurb is based in San Francisco with offices in London.
The Role:
Blurb is looking for a high-energy Operations leader. One who will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Blurb's global production and fulfillment network. One who can partner to drive Blurb's eCommerce platform. This is highlighted by: multi-currency support, domestic and international tax compliance, world-wide shipping/logistics and royalty platforms. Working with the SVP Print Network, you will be accountable for the resulting gross margin performance of print operations, and shipping/delivery SLA?s. You will direct the development of operational levers optimized for revenue growth, scale, customer satisfaction as measured by Net Promoter Scores (NPS) and overall margin improvement.
Responsibilities:
Handle all details of Shipping and Fulfillment at all levels: Fed Ex, UPS, US Postal and local country post relationships. Handling all Custom, Duties and Taxes as they apply to shipping globally.
Administer Blurb?s shipping/fulfillment platform, inclusive of the logic for determining ship methods and defining rate and handling calculations
Manage all vendor relationships from a senior level: owning the contracts, reconciliation of courier bills, contract renewals and making sure we are optimizing cost on that side of the business.
Overseeing back end integration, new product launches, and existing product improvements with print partners.
Direct gross margin analysis and drive recommendations for margin enhancement through available levers, e.g. foreign exchange, pricing, and routing
Forecast and modeling unit throughput by facility/product line to improve efficiency and cost.
Monitor print quality by supplier and leverage expertise to ensure consistency in product by region.
Serve as the primary point of escalation with regard to operational systems and execution.
Leadership & Strategy
In tandem with the SVP Print Network, assure delivery of top-quality products at acceptable margins worldwide within stated SLAs.
Partner with Product Development on the execution and impact of new initiatives on the print network.
Manage the San Francisco print operations and eCommerce teams.
Manage our holiday preparedness team, across all lines of the organization. Act as quarterback during the holiday seasonal execution.
Handle all vendor relationships that deal with shipping in the organization; partner with SVP Print Network in managing relationships with the print partner network.
Contribute to the Executive team development of short and long-term financial planning.
Lead ongoing relationships with key payment gateway providers, payment processors, and applicable merchant banks
Own the measurement and execution of Blurb's adherence to electronic payment industry standards on data security (PCI Compliance), as well as industry-standard privacy practices. Work with systems and product development teams to prioritize the work required to reach and maintain compliance to these standards.
Requirements:

He or she will possess superior interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated, resourceful, and accurate; a quick learner and someone who can hit the ground running.
A strong operational background.
Strong retail/Ecommerce shipping and operations experience.
Exposure to: Tax implementation, royalty payments, foreign exchange policy, chargebacks and credit card disputes, payment processing all a plus.
Project management experience
Someone good at managing cross functional teams
Understanding back end ops from a product background. Background in Product Dev and/or commercial printing would be a plus.
