As a Sr. Engineer of Roof Systems in Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team, you will have the opportunity to work in diverse areas of automotive body and closure system development for revolutionary Tesla vehicle product lines. You will be part of the team that creates and executes world-class closure systems terms of form and innovative functionality.
You will utilize your and develop as a full vehicle engineer â€" designing and delivering systems rather than just components as you work with a lean and agile team of the best automotive engineers in the industry. You will report to the Senior Manager of Roof Systems and this position resides in Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team.
Â§ Will lead the investigation of build concerns raised in or out of Quickbase concerns tracking database. This includes entering responses in database as well as tracking and managing the aging and closure of concerns.
Â§ Help troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise between roof system and surrounding components or systems.
Â§ Help manufacturing team with any questions that may arise on design of roof system or how the roof system is meant to interact with surrounding environment. Expectation is that CATIA will be used for this task.
Â§ Monitor the robustness of the manufacturability of the roof parts and to recommend design improvements to help with throughput in manufacturing.
Â§ Attend change management meetings and help manage the phase in of new design levels of parts and assemblies.
Â§ Oversee any repair work completed on roof components or subassemblies. This includes documenting and publishing rework procedures as needed. An extension of this responsibility is that the resident engineer may from time to time need to interact with and/or travel to Tesla service locations to assist with on rework on roof systems in the field.
Â§ Perform incoming inspection and monitor quality on roof components for pre-production builds and/or pre-PPAP level components.
Â§ May be responsible for the design and development of some roof components
Â§ May assist with the testing and validation of roof components, sub-systems and full assemblies.
