Job Description:The individual in this position will be responsible for contributing to and/or leading the development of new epitaxial growth processes for GaN-based laser diodes (LDs). The individual must interact across team boundaries to collaboratively develop high performance laser diode devices. The individual must be experienced, creative, motivated and hands-on to own and lead epitaxial process development projects.
Specific functions:
1. Ownership of MOCVD reactors and contribution to hardware optimization as needed for epitaxial process development
2. Design and execute both production-oriented and research-oriented growth experiments to enable improved epitaxial characteristics of materials for laser diode device structures
3. Interact with outside resources/vendors as necessary to develop and qualify novel processes
4. Perform structural, optical and electrical characterization of materials
5. Develop and adapt test methodology for R&D and production needs
6. Drive performance improvements to match product roadmap requirements and present details to both technical and non-technical audiences
7. Write clear technical reports and presentations of data results and conclusions
8. Contribute to development of Soraa intellectual property and documentation of invention disclosures
Experience and Skills:
Ph.D/post-doc in Electrical Engineering or Materials Science with relevant experience in III-N epitaxial growth process
1-5 years experience in semiconductor industry in manufacturing or R&D capacity is preferable
Hands-on experience in structural and electrical characterization of III-N materials
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive on technical challenges inside and outside own core area of expertise and interact effectively across development and manufacturing teams
High level of dedication and commitment to produce good results
Good team work and communication skills
