Sr Field Applications Engineer Alien Technology
Act as key account technical interface particularly specializing in the software aspects of passive Radio Frequency Identification (pRFID) implementations
Technical liaison between the customer and engineering (and sometimes between marketing and sales) for problem resolution
2nd level technical support (except for accounts were there is a personal / direct relationship)
Create and maintain demos/non-product applications to aid sales and our partners in understanding pRFID in general and highlighting our technology market advantages in particular.
Aid in the development of Field Engineering software tools to support the testing and implementation of pRFID systems
Act as a guide to engineering on application specific requirements as well as support product testing to emulate real world conditions as closely as possible
Educating our partners, customers and sometimes our sales force on the capabilities, uses and evolution of RFID ICs, tags, readers (fixed and handheld) and software
Maintain industry knowledge of Alien?s and our competitor?s offerings
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree and 5+ years? experience in software development, customer support, or equivalent education and experience
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working directly with customers particularly in the areas of specifying requirements and solution design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex technological concepts audiences of different skill levels
Knowledge of system architecture with critical thinking skills in order to test and debug system problems
Proficiency in .NET (C), Java, C, or C++ programming languages in Windows or Linux environments. Experience in software development of applications on Windows CE and Mobile as well as Android is highly desirable
Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally
Additional Desirable Qualifications
pRFID software development experience
pRFID installation experience (both hardware and software)
Experience with RFID reader protocols such as Alien Reader Protocol (ARP) and Low-Level Reader Protocol (LLRP).
Detailed understanding of hardware, software and networks architectures involved in pRFID solutions.
General understanding of the physics of RF and wireless communication principles and state of the art technologies.
