Sr. Flash Technologist (Fellow) SandForce, Inc.

Responsibilities

The Senior Flash Technologist (Fellow) at SandForce will be responsible for:

- Will interface with all major flash vendors to understand the flash roadmap and technology migration
o Will effectively communicate flash vendor technical details and technologies to the architecture and engineering teams at SandForce
o Will provide direct assistance and oversight in the integration of flash information into SandForce product architecture and product requirement specifications
- Will identify SandForce product requirements in supporting next generation smaller geometry NAND Flash products by specifying the ECC and interface requirements, read channel design and soft decision LDPC requirements
- Will champion all relationships and interface with flash vendors in order in building partnerships to gain access to advanced and early flash information for joint development
- Takes the lead in communicating SandForce advances in error correction technology in order to drive Flash design with SandForce partners
- Actively participates with other internal stakeholders in the architecture definition of next generation SandForce SSD controllers and products
- Represents SandForce in related industry conferences and standards bodies
- Through assessment of tangible and intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamental storage application memory technology issues and collaborates on long term vision and strategy to reach a solid state storage leadership position
- Maintains the Storage Class Memory (SCM) technology roadmap and product portfolio plus provides updates on new major developments


Qualifications


- Minimum of MS in ECE (PhD preferred), with emphasis in circuit and solid state memory technology design
- At least 10 years of industry leading experience working in the field of solid state Flash memory design, error correction, data recovery field and storage
o Demonstrated success in driving technical innovation in flash memory devices
- Proven track record of having designed and architected successful solid state memory products into high volume production
- Has in depth knowledge of state of the art NAND flash technology including SLC, MLC, eMLC, 3/4 bit flash and their application to solid stage storage
o Progressive flash memory design experience from 70nm to 2xn
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills is a must
- The candidate must have state of the art knowledge and experience in the field of solid state memory design and architecture and advanced ECC algorithms.
