Our team takes advantage of the best aspects of Java to keep our large codebase modern, modularized, and scalable. We're big on type safety, performance, refactoring in Eclipse, flexible database schemas that work on MySQL and HBase, using open source frameworks when they're good, and building our infrastructure when we can do better.
Build, optimize, and improve large data imports and exports that need to finish in minutes
Build distributed processes to gather data and identify relationships and trends
Further modularize our EC2-hosted systems into fault-tolerant distributed services
Plan and implement private and public APIs
Index data in new ways using Lucene and our custom indexing platform
Formulate ideas and be willing and able to implement them
BS in Computer Science or related
At least 4 years of formal Java experience
Experience with version control and Linux command line required
Previous work developing high performance systems and data structures a strong plus
Experience with Hadoop, HBase, and related technologies a strong plus
Desire to work in a team environment sharing best practices for software architecture, libraries, version control, IDEs, testing strategies, etc
Ability to think on behalf of renters and the business, and communicate your vision for the product to the rest of the team
Proficiency in server side Java web development and curiosity to learn the newest techniques and technologies
Flexibility to take on whatever challenges arise
Energy to keep pace with our daily deployments and constant code change
