The Team
The Huffington Post Operations team manages the day-to-day and long-term initiatives related to advertising inventory monetization and campaign operations, content publishing and native advertising products, consumer and audience research and analytics, and executive business metrics and reporting. This team reports to the CEO of The Huffington Post, Jimmy Maymann, and is tasked with driving critical business initiatives for revenue growth.
The Role:
In this high-impact role, you?ll report to the Vice President, Operations of The Huffington Post Media Group. You will use your well-honed business, operational and technical acumen to act as a thought leader and project manager driving critical cross-functional advertising operations initiatives and interfacing with our internal Edit, Technology, Legal and Sales and Marketing teams.
This may involve, specifically:
Building and managing ad solutions and monetization roadmap, including areas such as, but not limited to
Reserved inventory monetization: initiatives to improve ad product packaging, pricing, inventory management
Remnant inventory monetization (ad networks/exchanges/SSPs/DSPs)
Video (in-site, HuffPost Live) and mobile monetization (mobile web and apps)
Commercial Publishing / native advertising
Traffic: distribution strategy and 3rd party agreements
e-commerce strategy: affiliate programs, new initiatives
Defining business and technical requirements and specifications for ad solutions across various ad formats and platforms
Collaborating with Sales & Marketing, Editorial, Technology, Legal to identify and resolve areas for improvement in the current advertising operations and bring new products to market; act as project manager to ensure timeliness and rigor
Conducting beta testing to ensure effectiveness of ad solutions prior to roll out
Building business cases (revenue, pricing, cost) to support new business initiatives and ensure overall profitability
Establishing and monitoring ad solutions success metrics, dashboards and P&L
When necessary, identifying and managing key vendors to enable and execute ad solution strategies; Vendor/Partner onboarding and execution, specifically guidance regarding standards, specifications, page layout and interaction, set up with internal trafficking and systems teams
Performing market assessment / research and competitive landscape overviews, evaluating new growth opportunities (both revenue and audience)
Qualifications:
You are:
Curious, analytical, good with math and logic, a self-started problem-solver
Organized and detail-oriented, a good planner who can prioritize and find the critical path
Driven by results and getting things done
Independent and self-sufficient, but know when to ask for help and keep supervisor informed
Service-oriented, able to build relationships, work with people from diverse backgrounds, and make compromises
Able to influence cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Technology, Edit) without formal authority
Fluent in Excel, and Powerpoint; comfortable working with data
Needless to say, a hard worker
Required experience and knowledge:
Bachelor?s Degree preferably in a quantitative discipline. Master or MBA a plus, but not required
Minimum of 4-5 years? experience in digital advertising in an operations, product or monetization capacity
Additional 2-3 years? experience in a business role or in management consulting a plus
Knowledge of online advertising formats and platforms, industry standards, and the competitive ecosystem including ad networks, exchanges, SSPs, DSPs etc.
Participation in relevant advertising community forums (e.g., IAB, AdMonsters, etc) is a plus, but not required
Experience conducting market analysis and converting into business requirements or defining and launching new products, features or processes
