The Sr. Manager/Director of Payor and Managed Markets Strategy is a field-based position responsible for developing strategies and tactics to secure payor coverage and reimbursement for maximizing patient access to Durata Therapeutic?s products. As a member of the Commercial team, the Sr. Manager/Director of Payor and Managed Markets Strategy will play a key role in working closely with Marketing and Sales to ensure customer needs are met for a successful commercial launch and market uptake for Dalvance. This is a high-impact role in a fast-moving start-up venture with an aggressive business agenda and limited resources. The position will require the ability to be nimble and adapt quickly to changing dynamics.
Develop and implement a strategy for public and private payors
Work with other channels impacting coverage and reimbursement such as specialty pharmacies, prescription benefit managers, diagnostic benefit managers and disease management companies
Develop and implement a technology assessment strategy
Work with management and national accounts to develop a contracting strategy
Work with Medical Affairs to develop a clinical strategy to support payor specific endpoints
Work with Medical Affairs to develop publication strategy to support data needs of payors
Prepare and submit provider number applications for government payors
Develop positioning and messaging for payor related audiences and reimbursement support services
Develop promotional materials for payors and practice managers
Develop Dossier to facilitate coverage from payors
Develop a payor specific portal with payor specific reports
Assess coverage and reimbursement for competitive products and pipeline products
Work with senior management to assess international expansion opportunities based on coverage and reimbursement issues and opportunities
Manage Dalvance?s sales activities for managed care organizations, including government agencies, institutions, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), specialty pharmacies, and wholesalers on a national level. Interacts with Federal government agencies, institutions, GPOs and wholesalers, including but not limited to pharmacy associations and medical associations.
Develops and manages payor accounts along with the development of the overall value proposition, including positioning and product specifications. May also be involved in design and implementation of trade and government product reimbursement programs and policies. This position will focus initially on the long-acting antibiotic market.
Develop forward-thinking payor relations strategies that optimize sales, margin and return on net assets.
Develop knowledge of key payors and the dynamic of the markets in which they operate.
Understand how changes in the health care landscape will influence long term payor behavior, both within the commercial and public sector
Develop deep understanding of the pricing strategies and product dynamics within the long-acting antibiotic market place
Create and develop the pricing and contracting strategies which align with corporate goals
Establish and test hypotheses, measure and analyze results, and develop business recommendations based on strategic insights and implications. Present findings to Senior Management.
Minimum of 10-15 years successful work experience in related fields; managed markets, third-party payor strategies, health economic outcomes, financial modeling, reimbursement, experience.
Preferred, advanced degree in health care administration or public health.
In-depth knowledge of HCP (health care professional), patient, payor and channel marketing.
Strong skills and expertise in: specialty payer and channels, biopharmaceutical launches, specialty, primary care and institutional sales, and, new product development.
Advanced knowledge of managed healthcare industry.
Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable recommendations.
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Results driven, with a desire to work in a fast paced environment that values collaboration, integrity and accountability
PowerPoint and Excel skills required
