The Sr. Manager International Expansion ? English-Speaking World is responsible for driving the growth of Craftsy in the English-speaking world, outside of the United States, through the development and execution of marketing initiatives and distribution relationships. In short, you are building a high-growth business within an existing high-growth business. Craftsy is currently showing significant international traction with little marketing effort.
The ideal candidate is comfortable leveraging data to drive decision-making and has experience with business development and online marketing in a high-growth, high-expectation environment. Experience working in International markets, particularly the United Kingdom or Australia, is highly desirable but not required.
Craftsy.com is a venture funded, Denver-based start-up at the intersection of online education, social communities, and e-commerce. We produce HD-quality classes in lifestyle crafts and hobbies (quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking, cake decorating, and more.) The Craftsy platform enables passionate enthusiasts around the world to learn from expert instructors ? anywhere, any time ? and to easily interact with instructors and classmates as they do. Learn it, make it, and even share it on Craftsy.com, by posting projects for inspiration and feedback or selling in our free-to-list indie patterns marketplace. Just over a year old, with 100+ classes and over one million users, Craftsy is already a pioneer in the online education space and growing rapidly. The global crafts and hobby marketplace is estimated to be a $50B industry.
Craftsy was founded in May 2010 by an experienced executive team from eBay, Yahoo!, and ServiceMagic. The leadership is strong, and supports every employee in building and moving the company forward each day. We learn on the fly, and respond quickly to user feedback and ideas. The office is fast-paced and fluid, with the long hours start-ups are known for. But we like to have fun, too: like any good start-up, there are video games, rock concerts, and bottomless snacks.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
? Rapidly become a leading expert within Craftsy on the non-domestic craft education market and quickly understand distribution and marketing channels
? Develop relationships enabling Craftsy to market to aggregated groups of passionate crafters in key markets around the world
? Leverage internal data and your own market analysis to drive resource allocation across geographic markets and enthusiast categories
? Conduct market research to inform marketing strategies and product and class development
? Design and run experiments to evaluate marketing tactics (e.g. pricing, messaging, etc.)
? Strong quantitative skills - Bachelors degree in quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or engineering preferred.
? Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as ability to develop and communicate creative ideas.
? Five+ years work experience with at least two+ years experience in consulting, investment banking, or private equity preferred
? Experience with business development and online marketing (SEM, Display, Social, email marketing) in a high-growth consumer internet company.
? Experience with SQL desired and proficiency in Excel required
? Ability to think creatively, structure ambiguous problems, and synthesize analyses to generate insights and actionable plans
? Predisposition to find an 80/20 solution and focus on rapid iteration of ideas
? Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
? Ability to travel if necessary
