Summary:
Develops and applies mechanical engineering design methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge. Plans, conducts, technically directs, and evaluates projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. Analyzes, evaluates and plans methods of approach, and organizes means to achieve solution of highly complex technical problems. Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Recommends corrections in technical applications and analyses. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Provides technical consultation to other organizations.
May develop estimates of time, expense and manpower requirements. Allocates assigned manpower, material, equipment, and supply resources for optimum utilization. Prepares periodic reports indicating progress of technical projects and tasks. Reviews progress according to technical objectives, budgetary and scheduling parameters. Informs management of potential problems and obstacles which could affect project schedule or completion. Interfaces between the Customer, Program Manager, and Project Engineers. Defines and develops system requirements and detailed architecture.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor?s Degree/ Master?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience within assigned technical discipline, including supervision/management experience.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years application engineering experience.
Experience working in MIL-STD, government, or high-reliability environments.
Skills:
Ability to effectively lead, motivate and direct professional technical personnel.
Knowledge of personnel and project management.
Knowledge in Mechanical Engineering
