Sr. Mechanical Engineer Syagen Technology
Date posted: 02/14/2011This is a senior technical position at Syagen Technology operating as the engineering lead for all mechanical and systems engineering activities. The position requires a self-starter able to take initiative and engage in problem solving and to work effectively with the engineering development team in a fast paced environment. An ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a small team environment are essential. Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical engineering projects associated with design, prototyping and manufacture of mass spectrometry based instrumentation
Design and build for manufacturability
Work in a team environment with scientists and engineers to set product specifications
Manage supplier contracts and relationships, including price negotiations, in the supplier base
Develop, implement and maintain procedures and documentation for fabrication, assembly and testing of products
Be a champion for product quality and manage quality control process and procedures per existing ISO 9001 certification and maintain highest levels of production quality
Sustaining engineering updates for PhotoMate APPI, OEM component product line
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years of industry experience
Candidate must have strong design skills and be an advanced user of the SolidWorks CAD software program
Experience with precision machining, vacuum systems, system and subsystem integration
Strong hands-on prototyping and debugging skills
Must have strong people skills, good written and verbal communication abilities, as well as possess strong business acumen
Understanding in engineering documentation processes and engineering department management, highly desirable
Project manager experience a strong plus.
