DescriptionThe IT Operations team is responsible for supporting the technical infrastructure for the company, and consists of Windows System Administrators, Linux System Administrators, Network Engineers and Database Administrators. This team manages 600+ Linux and Windows servers and associated network infrastructure in a high-availability environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sr. Network Engineer will be responsible for providing senior level administration and support of the core network environment. This position is responsible for:
Supporting the core network environments. This includes the administration, design and troubleshooting of the Cisco infrastructure and communications network.
Establishing and managing network hardware. This includes the management of BigIP load balancers and email delivery systems.
Establishing business continuity standards. This includes the creation of network, data center and bandwidth redundancy recommendations.
Additional duties include:
Owns design & implementation of all computer networks
Investigates security penetration attempts
Manages BGP & global load balancing implementations and usage
Designs & deploys world class systems including: load balancers, firewalls, NIDS, monitoring, deployment, processes
Owns change process for networks
Builds LDAP authentication, Centralized configuration mgmt, SNMP & Cacti monitoring, Logging for firewalls, Upgraded office network, Improved production network
Manages ASNs, IPs, ports & inter-dc VPNs
Ensures fewest single point of failures
Manages network hardware & service vendors day-to-day
Ensures all configurations are under source control
Proactively delivers network capacity in line with growth predictions
Documents and tracks all firewall access rules per application
Monitors and reports on network utilization and capacity
3rd level escalation for production issues
Being ?on-call? 24/7, to respond immediately to any system failures, within a rotating schedule.
Assist developers in troubleshooting issues related to network performance .
Assist with the troubleshooting office administration technologies.
Assist in maintaining hardware infrastructure including data center management.
Manage QoS for all network traffic
CANDIDATE OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking, hands-on senior level technician, with at least:
5-7 years of networking support at individual contributor level or higher within an infrastructure group
Cisco & BGP guru
5+ years experience with DNS, SMTP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, GRE),
3+ years managing VoIP technologies
Proven problem solving & analytical skills
Friendly, flexible, good at multi-tasking, prefers teamwork
Experience working with multi-site wide area networks
Cisco certifications and a plus
3+ years of Enterprise system administration experience on a Linux or Windows server platform desirable.
3+ years of shell scripting experience.
Experience building and managing load-balanced web server clusters with Apache, PHP, and Virtual Hosting a plus.
Experience with backup and recovery at an enterprise-level, including tar, afio, ssh, and scp a plus.
Disk management experience with Solaris LVM, Disk Suite, or Linux LVM a plus.
2+ years experience of building, managing, and responding to monitoring systems measuring critical system performance.
