The Role:
The Senior Network/Systems Administrator is responsible for ownership over the day-to-day operations of Blurb's Production and Corporate networking infrastructure, ensuring network connectivity, performing maintenance/upgrades, monitoring, security and most importantly working in a production ecommerce environment. Additionally, this role will require Linux system administration experience and VMware virtualization knowledge. Facilities to be supported include Blurb's corporate office and multiple collocation facilities. In this role, the Senior Network/Systems Administrator will be required to exercise discretion and judgment in helping design, build and support Blurb's IT infrastructure and IP networks. ??
Responsibilities:
Network administration:
Architect fast, scalable, secure, highly available and efficient computer networks. (1Ge, 10Ge and 40Ge switching)?
Significant Hands-on configuration experience with Cisco, F5, Juniper, Force10, Dell PowerConnect
Expert in network troubleshooting.?Experience in VLANs, IPSEC, LAN/WAN routing, and DNS
Configure, administer and monitor: Routers, Firewalls, Load balancers and Network Switches and other Network devices?
Analyze and troubleshoot all network and communication devices in both corporate and production environments ?
Tune and monitor application and networking infrastructure.
Provide regular status updates on projects and the state of networking infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance to other staff members within the organization.
Available on call as part of rotating 24/7 sysadmin team
Primary contact for networking infrastructure leading routine maintenance and trouble shooting issues
4+ years experience in multi-tiered and distributed network administration.
Linux administration:
Experience managing multi-tier web services using technologies such as Apache web server or Tomcat, Java applications, and MySQL
Manage Linux servers for 24x7 global production ecommerce data center
Installation patching, troubleshooting, performance tuning and security of live production Linux environment
Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure
Ensure proper monitoring alerting capacity planning and reporting in the production environment
Develop processes tools and documentation in support of production operations
DevOps experience working in a configuration management framework such as Puppet, CFEngine, or Chef
Operational practices such as change management, incident management, and working in colocation datacenters
Monitoring and alerting systems such as Nagios, Cacti, and Ganglia
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5 & 6) and creating RPM packages. RHCE is a plus
VMware vSphere, ESX or ESXi, and vCenter
Automating management of systems and applications using Perl, Python, or Ruby
Industry-standard foundation technologies such as DNS, SMTP, NTP, LDAP, and NFS
Demonstrable skills and 7+ years experience managing, troubleshooting, and tuning Linux systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
