Provide day-to-day management and support of multiple production, staging and development environments
Work closely with the managed infrastructure and services provider to troubleshoot database, application and environment issues and work through resolution.
Ensure data base system availability, performance and that services level of agreements are met
Set up and manage environments and database servers for development, staging, sales and training (Oracle, Linux, JBOSS, and web services)
Work with the operations team, engineering, and the services provider to define database and application architecture for production, staging and development
Ensure compliance with SAS 70 controls and other security compliances
Interact with Customer Support and Engineering regularly to resolve data base issues and customer reported data and reporting issues.
Assist Sr. Oracle DBA and management for defining metrics and approaches for monitoring performance, availability, security and resource usage of the on-demand databases
Additional responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and upgrades of database software and related products
Job Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in business management, information systems or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience essential.
At least 2-3 years of experience supporting and managing production Oracle databases, preferably in supporting web-based applications in a hosted environment.
Experience with Oracle 11g with partitioning and clustering (RAC) is a plus.
Skilled in SQL and PL/SQL and performance tuning, Dataguard and data replication.
Able to build metrics and tools to track application and database availability, performance and job status. Scripting skills in either shell or PERL
Experience in Linux system administration. Apache Web Servers, JBOSS, XML, JSP knowledge a plus
Knowledge of data mart, business intelligence (Cognos and Oracle) and ETL (Pervasive and Informatica) and or experience with ERP, CRM and other enterprise applications a plus
Excellent Project, organizational and time management skills
Strong listening, written, verbal and telephone communication skills, and professional presentation skills; able to communicate effectively and credibly with all levels, including senior management and very senior technical staff
Highly self-motivated; works effectively with minimal supervision; takes direction well
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills; able to work collaboratively in a team environment
Persistent and dependable, especially with attendance and meeting deadlines; able to manage multiple competing priorities
Able to work extended hours when needed and available to be on 24 X 7 call for after hours support on a rotating basis
Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
Positive attitude and willingness to promote and evangelize SaaS technologies and solutions
