POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Principal Developer will be responsible for working with the chief technology officer in developing new product ideas, innovation, and technology evaluations to meet the product roadmap and future business strategies of the company. The incumbent will work with Engineering, Product Management, and Quality Assurance to develop product designs and plans for future product direction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Provide architectural direction for new product concepts or technologies
Innovate new technology or product solutions within Datacert?s Passport technology platform
Participate as an active developer on new product platform features
Provide direction for product refactoring and optimization
Mentor and train development team members to improve overall technical skills, efficiency and quality
Prototype new product concepts for key strategic product initiatives
Evaluate future roadmap items for technical feasibility and cost
Evaluate new technologies or tools for Datacert?s Platform product
Perform due diligence on product and technology acquisitions
Be accountable for ensuring that Datacert?s development team has the knowledge and tools to successfully deliver features or technologies that are on the Product Roadmap
Additional Responsibilities:
Support the released development of prototyped features
Work with QA to define acceptance criteria for R&D defined technologies or features
Work with the platform or product development teams on R&D scoped features or products
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Bachelor?s degree in computer science or similar field required
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience as a senior developer with Object Oriented Development; and ideally has experience in an architectural role
Experience training and mentoring software developers
Experience working in Java web application development using an Agile development methodology
Experience developing commercial, enterprise software for an ISV
Experience developing a technology platform is a plus
Experience using ORM and MVC implementations
Experience in Agile development practices preferred
Microsoft SQL Server experience; Oracle is a plus
Experience with an object-oriented scripting language such as Python, Groovy or Ruby a plus

Ability to creatively architect, design and implement software solutions in a high-energy, fast-paced, and Agile development environment
Ability to work in a highly collaborative, teamwork-based, environment
Ability to independently provide right-sized solutions to business problems
Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skill and the capacity to think creatively under pressure
Strong code re-factoring skills
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Results-oriented self-starter requiring minimal supervision
