As a Sr. Product Manager at Tripwire, you are responsible for transforming market opportunities into actionable product plans and delivering market-ready products.
While technical depth is important to this role to accurately represent market & customer needs, a strong business-oriented approach towards justifying what is developed is an absolute must.
Successful Product Managers actively balance the need for new product capabilities against development capacity and cost, and drive new innovative product initiatives to meet market demand.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Responsible for defining the various operating systems, databases, applications, virtualized systems, and networking/security solutions that our various software products support.
Defines the requirements for all appliances in our suite of products and manages the full lifecycle for those appliances from conception to end of life.
Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning through project execution and market release.
Define and articulate the product vision and strategy spanning multiple releases over an 18 to 24 month horizon.
Leverage market research, competitive knowledge, and customer feedback to define the technical requirements, packaging, and pricing for products and solutions.
Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and gain consensus for plans going forward.
Represent Tripwire products in sales engagements, industry events, and partner discussions
Assist product marketing in defining go-to-market launch activities
All other duties as assigned.
Working independently, the Sr. Product Manager resolves a wide range of diverse problems utilizing personal judgment and experience to develop solutions in a creative manner.
Interacts with employees at all levels of the organization and takes personal responsibility for meeting the needs of the customer while demonstrating an understanding of business objectives.
Authority to act within defined policies within the area of expertise/knowledge as directed. Effectively communicates research findings to the organization and develops plans for implementation.
Determines necessary resources required and develops goals and metrics for function.
No direct supervision.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or suitable prior work experience, and an MBA is a plus.
10+ years of software product management or relevant experience.
Strong background in security software and network/security appliances.
Strong leadership skills and ability to direct cross-functional teams.
Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience in providing strategic contribution to business results. Must be experienced working with executives and presenting strategy.
Ability to travel to represent the company worldwide approximately 25% of the time.
