Job Description :
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for maintaining existing and developing new business opportunities relative to a particular customer, group of customers, geographical area or line of business project(s) / program(s).
The Senior Project Manager provides overall direction and management for large projects and is accountable for the project / program?s viability and financial health. This position has a high level of responsibility requiring excellent management skills, the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to all levels of regional management, internal and external stakeholders and customers, and the ability to develop members of the project team in project management skills.
MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its lifecycle.
Manage project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction).
Manages and ensures customer?s expectations for quality, schedule, and budget are satisfied.
Responsible for project success, and meeting financial performance for project-specific targets.
Sets and manages project team expectations.
Coaches, mentors, and manages multiple projects managers and projects.
Point of contact between Power Line Services and the customer on project activities.
Ensures all project activities are performed within the project plan.
Manage costs and cash flow including, if required, the development of a recovery plan to stay within budget limits.
Strives to improve the project?s margin.
Manages the invoicing and receipt of all customer payments.
Support the Business Strategic Plans, sales initiatives, and financial expectations.
Reports project status and performance data as required to management and stakeholders.
Ensures compliance with the my client's project management procedures.
Available for travel and possible short term relocation if necessary
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
4 year BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant Project / Project Management Experience; or 12+ years of relevant experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, formal Project Management foundation coursework, or knowledge and experience in Industry PM Methods.
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Utilities Construction Project Management (Transmission Line and Substation Construction)
Knowledge and Experience of Contract Administration and Contract Management.
Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards, and their impact on project activities.
Ability to negotiate with other Project Managers, Project Stakeholders, customers, etc.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) essential with management, project team, contractors, and customer, both written and oral.
Proficient in CPM scheduling and software applications (Primavera, MS Project).
Proven, consistent, successful prior performance managing large projects / programs
Experience / knowledge of operations, construction, design, finance and management required.
Significant business acumen required.
Creative problem solving abilities.
Mentoring skills; Ability to train others.
Budget preparation and cost control for department.
Responsible for forecasting and adhering to budgets for travel, training etc necessary within department.
HUMAN RESOURCES RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily supervision of a Team of Project Managers.
Create, communicate and review ongoing department staff goals.
Ensure proper training is provided and maintained within department.
Work with HR for hiring, coaching and terminations within department.
Maintain appropriate documentation for personnel issues within department.
