SUMMARY -
The Implementation Project Manager / Products Specialist is a professional capable of solving moderately complex technical and business operational challenges as well as providing consulting for specific product implementations.
The Implementation Project Manager / Products Specialist has the ability to assess the needs of customers and make quick and effective decisions to ensure overall customer satisfaction and efficient delivery of services.
This position is involved in the design, implementation, modification, configuration, maintenance, and consulting for/of computer systems and systems software. This role has overall responsibility for implementation of projects of varying scopes.
The Implementation Project Manager / Products Specialist must be able to perform in a highly dynamic environment involving significant and intense coordination with many Pearson business groups to ensure the successful transition and completion of implementation assignments, ensuring high quality and high customer satisfaction through out the implementation effort.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies project management methodology to all projects
Oversees all phases of implementation including assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion.
Communicates project status to all members of project team and affected groups on a regular basis
Sets expectations and manages to scope
Is responsible for configuring the systems, mapping data, and making best practice recommendations to meet the client?s business needs
Facilitates scheduling of product training, conversion of data, and software installation
Provides consultancy on setup, configuration, data mapping, and customer business processes
Provides direction for, and coordinates efforts of all cross-functional project team members
Acts as liaison on customers? behalf to internal business units (sales, business operations, implementation, product education, technical support, etc.)
Communicate directly with Pearson customers by phone and email; for example, to assist with District/School configuration/setup for a customer, when asked to participate during reconciliation of a customer satisfaction issue, to clarify customer requirements, or if requested for any reason by the Manager of Implementations or any Director of the company. In this capacity (and in general), the Implementation Project Manager / Products Specialist must represent Pearson professionally, and in a manner consistent with Pearson customer service values.
Report status weekly to the Manager of Implementations.
Communicate with Pearson Project Managers and customers in an effective, professional manner throughout the duration of the implementation effort. This may include an initial kickoff call, explaining the scope and process with a customer, as well as additional communication to resolve specific questions.
Respond to feedback, resolving any issues in a manner that satisfies the customer while meeting Pearson business objectives.
Maintain accurate records of individual Implementation Project deliverables/work products and issues in the Pearson CRM SalesForce or equivalent tool as indicated by Management.
All other responsibilities, as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Skills/knowledge/abilities:
General familiarity with District, School, and Student data, including an understanding of relationships between these types of data (for example, students to schools, sections to courses, marks to terms, scheduling, etc)
SIS or IIS Administrator experience is highly desirable
Extensive working experience with two (2) of these specific Pearson software applications; PowerSchool, Pearson Inform, Schoolnet.
Experience with consulting for enterprise-class applications
Experience with student testing, standards and assessments
Experience with achievement data analysis
Professional training classes or certification in project management is a plus
Ability to grasp issues and evaluate the situation at hand in order to make rapid decisions
Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Should be familiar with Business process mapping
Cross-platform computing experience is desirable (Microsoft Windows and Mac)
Must have excellent communication and writing skills
Able to handle multiple priorities and adapt to change
Excellent people skills and the ability to handle customers effectively with analytical and problem solving skills
Formal education and/or equivalent experience:
Minimum of 8 years of combined on-the-job experience, at least 4 years of which have been using a student information or instructional improvement system.
2+ years of experience as a project manager in the technology industry
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts

Must be able to travel 50% of the time, with the potential for 100% travel for extended periods of time.
Must be consistently available during critical customer business cycles sometimes lasting 2-4 months; for example, between school years and/or when business needs dictate.
