Summary:
An experienced and motivated individual with a broad skill set spanning electrical and mechanical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting is needed to support the technology development activities within the Advanced Concepts group. Areas of focus for the Advanced Concepts team include demonstration of new approaches to CoolSculpting devices and procedures, as well as active exploration and initial development of several other promising new aesthetic and therapeutic medical device opportunities.
Duties will span a broad range of activities, from informal bench testing and troubleshooting to fabrication and formal verification testing of early proof-of-concept prototypes intended for use in human clinical testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Build, test, and document one-of-a-kind proof-of-concept clinical test prototypes:
Assemble mechanical components.
Create, inspect, test, and install custom electrical cables.
Assemble fluidic fittings and test for leaks.
Create parts lists, cable diagrams, and record material lot numbers
Perform informal engineering bench tests to achieve test objectives with minimal instruction:
Build and document test fixtures.
Select, install, and confirm functionality of instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate sensors.
Collect data using lab notebooks and automated data acquisition systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and fluidic system issues.
Perform formal verification testing of clinical test prototype devices carefully following detailed step-by-step protocol instructions.
Help write formal technical reports documenting test fixtures, methods, and results.
Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA?s Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulatory requirements with which ZELTIQ complies.
Qualifications:
AA or AS degree with 10+ years R&D experience.
Experienced in hands-on fabrication of cable assemblies (selecting wires and connector components, soldering, crimping, heat shrink, labeling).
Skilled at inspection and testing of crimp and solder joints, cables, and sensors.
Ability to read schematics, and to troubleshoot and pinpoint wiring problems using digital multi-meter.
Mechanical and fluidics assembly and test skills (fasteners, compression fittings, PTFE tape, etc.)
Attention to detail and ability to clearly document work.
Demonstrated history of focusing on achieving deliverables and schedule milestones.
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic cross-functional environment.
Ability to clearly and concisely convey accomplishments, issues, and status to project team members.
Knowledge in ISO and FDA quality systems regulations and medical design and development lifecycle.
Additional Requirements:
Familiar with routine use of MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
