The Sr. Release Engineer will offer technical leadership and collaboration along with performing regular production deployments of our major and minor software releases. You will thrive automating/scripting build & deploy components while being the change captain to enforce highest quality & release cadence. Presented with a technical problem of any type, you should be able to dive into the details, navigating through the various systems and technologies involved to accurately diagnose the root cause.
Manage the entire release process including conducting release scope-planning, tracking key release milestones, support release activities, deployment & production monitoring pre/post deployments
Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication including the ability to work collaboratively with people from varying levels of technical ability
Develop/Administer build tools, deployment environment, and source code control tools.
Strive to achieve zero impact production launches.
Proactively identify and implement procedures to streamline application build and release process.
Create and maintain documentation of the build/deployment systems and processes as well as development/test environments
4+ years? experience as Build/Release Engineer, preferably in an e-commerce enterprise-level software company.
Experience with source code management tools like TFS, GIT, Perforce, and Subversion (TFS2010 experience is a must)
Experience with change management tools like jira, servicenow, clearquest etc
Proven high quality of successfully managing and deploying complex releases.
Experience using build automation tools such as MS Build, Jenkins, Hudson, TeamCity, Octopus, Nant or CruiseControl.
Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, NT Shell, Perl, etc.)
Advanced IIS configuration, knowledge & familiarity with .NET application/development platform (TFS/Visual Studio) & systems administration
Experience with Drupal, SQL Server, MongoDB and MySQL Development and Administration is a plus
Experience in a Continuous Integration and Agile/SCRUM environment
Experience debugging and troubleshooting automated builds and deployments
