Role DescriptionWe are looking for a seasoned Security Architect to join our organization. The Security Architect will own the security efforts for the entire organization and will be responsible for addressing the concerns of security, privacy, compliance and risk internally to other members of the IT, SaaS Ops/Cloud Ops and management organization and externally to prospects and customers.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of IT Information security, Application Security, Risk & Compliance, network, data and system security
Build and maintain security controls, including PCI, SSAWE 16 SOC2, ISO 27002, ISO 27001, and SOX-systems.
Works cross functionally and ensures other teams maintain their audit controls as applicable.
Recommends and implements technical, process, and policy changes to maintain appropriate security levels
Conduct technical and security evaluations and certifications of various systems and business processes
Discuss complex security concepts directly with prospective customers in support of the sales organizations revenue generation efforts
Responsibility for developing physical security, data integrity, availability and resiliency
Creation and maintenance of a consistent set of enterprise level security principles and standards that support the overall enterprise architecture and strategic direction of the company.
Improve overall security posture by developing and utilizing people, process and technology assets.
Work independently architecting and designing new systems or major enhancements to existing programs.
Responsible for performing feasibility analysis on highly complex initiatives and reporting that analysis to management.
Advises on selection of technological purchases with regard to standards-adherence, functionality/capabilities, integration, processing, data storage, data access, and development requirements.
Domain Architecture
Must be able to effectively develop and communicate IT security strategies and architectures both verbally and in writing (e.g. solution architecture specifications, long range security strategies) to a diverse audience.
Design security into initiatives early in the lifecycle (rather than as an afterthought)
May lead or provide technical guidance to a development team in the design of highly complex systems.
Responsible for providing architecture consultation on large or highly complex initiatives so that they meet business objectives and are in line with overall Enterprise Architecture.Architecture Collaboration & Guidance.
Initiate and participate in current and future state architecture reviews
Experience
B.S (Preferred M.S) in Computer Science.
5+ yrs of experience as a Security Engineer, Information Security Sr System Administrator or a Information Security Architect or as a Sr Security Engineer.
At least 5+ years experience in Windows/Unix/Linux System Infrastructure Administration in a SaaS or Cloud Operations with primary responsibility around Information Security, Controls etc.
5+ years of strong hands on background in data centers, networking, virtualization and SaaS service management.
Strong foundation in Virtualization (Vmware) & SaaS Service Management
Strong background in Security vendor technology and marketplace. Should be able to identify security vendors for various technology selections.
Flexible, continuous learner, excellent communicator, works well in team environment, appreciates challenge, comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving.
The ideal candidate will be a security expert with experience owning all levels of security concerns; including SSAE16, ISO, SOX, BCP, DR certification and compliance, server, desktop, laptop and office security
Experience with all aspects of security including compliance, identity and access management, penetration testing, vulnerability mitigation and management.
Great people, management and communication skills, experience managing highly technical teams
Ability to thrive in a fast paced start up environment
Experience at a SaaS or web application company
Requires in-depth knowledge of multiple IT disciplines
Must have expertise relating to the design and development of information technology architectures across the organization.
Requires advanced knowledge of Federated Identity Management, Single Sign On, Enterprise class Identity and Access Management solutions (e.g. technology, processes, architecture, etc.), Hardening Standards (NIST) and others.
Makes sound security architecture decisions based on expertise (knowledge of) open/industry standards, current and evolving technologies/products/standards/patterns/approaches/etc.
Must be well practiced in the identification and compliance with security regulations (Federal, State and industry) that are relevant to UC operations.
Solid understanding of "Cloud Architectures" & Infrastructure (e.g., SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and the ability to address the unique security considerations of secure Cloud computing
Ability to work closely with a variety of technology disciplines e.g. network engineers, application developers, DBA's, platform engineers, etc.
Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels in the organization.
Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Must be self motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
Requires top level knowledge of network protocols and how they are used on a global network.
Requires top level knowledge of data storage, processing, analysis, and visualization technologies and how they are used in administrative and/or academic endeavors at a large, top-tier research university.
Knowledge of Information Technology security functions and practices.
