Sr. Software and Controls Engineer Applied Microstructures

Responsible for (i) developing new PLC solutions for instrument and device control, (ii) developing graphical user interfaces, (iii) maintaining existing products
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and document new control systems for precision automated capital equipment
- Develop and write the control software and GUI code
- Develop software functional specifications, and other appropriate documentation to communicate software designs to team members and use as general plan for software development
- Formulate pros and cons of various PLC solutions, and continually keep up to date with new PLC technology
- Troubleshooting to solve instrument issues in timely manner
- Assist with the development of technical requirements and statements of work for outside vendors
- Manage projects within cost and time constrained environments
- Creating and submitting ECO's and maintaining BOM's
- Testing and qualifying prototype parts
- Liaise with clients
Core Competencies & Requirements:
- 10+ yrs experience
- Working knowledge with various PLC products and industrial Networks (including RS232, RS485, Ethernet, DeviceNet, EtherCAT)
- Experience programming PLC's using Ladder Logic or Wonderware
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design and programming using C .NET
- Experience working with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, OMRON, or Siemens PLC's
- Must have demonstrable track record of achieving project timelines
- Proven capability in developing and implementing protocols for Software Quality Assurance
- Support start up and troubleshooting of the automation equipment.
- Experience with SEMI S2
- Experience with SECS/GEM
- Demonstrated artistic flair in creating a GUI/HMI. Experience using WPF is a plus
- Practical knowledge of FMEA is a plus
- BSEE/CS or equivalent with a Masters Degree preferred
