Appia is looking for a Software Developer to be part of our Core Team, tasked with implementing new functionality and maintaining existing Appia J2EE Applications. This position requires a proven ability to understand and implement business requirements for new systems and enhancements to existing systems in an Agile environment. Additionally, the candidate must exhibit the ability to analyze and debug new and existing software systems.Key Responsibilities:
Implement scalable software systems that meet the business requirements within the design set prepared by the Managing Architect
Participate in code reviews
Maintain existing software systems
Participate in the design and development of new and existing software solutions
Latitude of Decision-Making:
As a developer within a matrixed technology organization, this position has primary responsibility and latitude to execute individual tasks leveraging established best practices and trade craft as defined within the development and governance processes and project plan. This position will contribute to broader strategy and planning activities as subject matter expert commensurate with their seniority and domain expertise.
Minimum Job Requirements:
5+ years work experience with Java and J2EE technologies
Minimum 2 years experience with AJAX presentation technologies
Proficiency with the following technologies - JSP, XML, SQL, SQL Server, common J2EE App Server
Extensive knowledge of JavaScript and CSS
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required
Strong knowledge of the SDLC process and the ability to manage/promote it
Minimum 2 years experience with AJAX presentation technology
Familiarity with n-Tier software architectures
Ability to debug and resolve difficult technical problems
Demonstrable experience with Java Application Servers such as WebLogic and Tomcat
Ability to determine the feasibility of projects in a fast paced deadline driven environment
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to anticipate problems proactively and take appropriate actions to mitigate negative impact
Exposure to iterative and incremental agile software development methodology is a plus
Developers work in an open office environment and work a standard 40 hours a week. However, evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines or solve specific problems
