Rearden Commerce is seeking a talented Senior Engineer to implement a robust and reliable platform for integrating with web service providers. This is a hands-on development position which requires both leadership and strong technical skills.

• Design and implement projects with an eye towards performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Make sound decisions on trade-offs between these concerns and product functionality and schedules.
• Document not just design, but also informational cookbooks and how-to's.
• Contribute significantly to design and code reviews.
• Write robust unit and component tests and be proactive in improving code coverage for existing code.
• Identify and fix bugs, particularly non-obvious ones (e.g. memory leaks, deadlocks), and trouble-shoot production issues.
• Serve as development push lead for releases.
• Collaborate effectively with products and QA to identify requirement and testing gaps and with Operations and SCM to ensure smooth delivery of projects to production.
• Mentor less senior developers on best practices in design, code, and unit testing.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation and quality across the engineering organization.

• 5+ years commercial software development experience, which includes internet or e-commerce development.
• 4+ years of Java development experience with in depth knowledge of core libraries, frameworks, and design patterns.
• Experience engineering for performance and scalability.
• Proactive and self-motivating.
• Disciplined and rigorously analytical approach to problems and design.
• Excellent debugging skills.
• BS in Computer Science or related.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Spring, Maven, and Hibernate.
• Experience with service oriented architecture, web services and protocols, and messaging.
