Provides architectural and ?big picture? oversight for development of new or enhanced products. Works with various product developers, product managers, and customer application experts to create software products containing required features and modifications. Provides technical advice to other departments within the company.
Responsibilities
May be responsible for integrating components built by product developers. Operates under minimal supervision. Reports to a Sr. Software Development Manager responsible for Content Management and Workflow systems. Usually requires six to nine years of technical experience in product architecture and/or product development.
Professional and Technical Competencies
Deep knowledge of content management systems, workflow systems, and/or information security systems (authentication, authorization, encryption).
Significant experience designing and implementing distributed architectures involving SOA principles and service designs including WCF, SOAP web services, restful web services, .Net Remoting, socket interfaces, and other service interface types.
Works with various programming and product groups within the company to ensure that required features and modifications are included in the appropriate releases to support cross-product features (including non-MS platforms).
Designs software modules that will work together to produce desired product. Ensures completed modules provide all functionality described by application experts and meet performance guidelines.
Provides high-level analysis and design reviews to other members and groups within the department to avoid duplication of efforts in solving the same application problem within different products.
Works with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company's products.
Evaluates new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company's products.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science; advanced degree desirable.
Experience
Six to nine years of technical experience in product architecture and/or product development.
Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (with ESB), or a competitive product, preferred.
Excellent knowledge of software design and implementation. Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation and organization skills. Excellent technical knowledge of broad business areas. Proficient PC skills.
Familiar with CASE tools products.
