POSITION: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
LOCATION: Chicago, IL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Provide technical support for the database environment including overseeing the design and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing information technology with a long term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.
?Develop a methodology of ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
?Develop a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in business continuity as necessary.
?Provide expertise on best practices.
?Work with systems, application development, and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives.
?Work with technical support and application staff to better utilize on-line processing databases environment.
?Work with others in IT to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process.
?Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies.
REQUIREMENTS:
?BE, BS Degree or equivalent experience in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred
?Minimum 5 years Microsoft SQL Server experience
?Must have demonstrated experience in SQL Server 2008 performance tuning, index optimization, and I/O distribution analysis in a SAN environment
?Understanding of and experience with relational database environments, including virtual operating environments and distributed databases.
?Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques.
?Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices.
?Must have demonstrated experience in design and implementation of large SQL Server 2008 distributed high volume OLTP database transaction processing.
