Tour of Duty:
The Sr. Storage Engineer works with other operations staff including Systems Engineers, Application Engineers, Network Engineers, and Database Administrators in implementing, configuring, and securing servers and storage to meet the company?s organization objectives. The position will also interface with Client Services staff to respond to tasks requiring Operations involvement, including information requests, problems, log searches and status updates. The individual will participate in on-call support for our storage services. This position will be responsible for opening/closing problem and incident tickets, monitoring/response to system alerts and physical implementation, configuration of hardware in the LiveOffice data centers and test environments. Other responsibilities will include execution of approved change requests, development and maintenance of ?as-built? infrastructure documentation and administration, maintenance and support of system monitors and alerts.
To Make the Cut
Minimum 5 years? experience in an enterprise storage environment supporting Fiber Channel, NAS, DAS, NFS, and other SAN technologies connecting to Windows operating systems, MS-SQL server environments, and Exchange email environments
Must have solid understanding of all RAID levels and uses.
Must have configured servers running Windows2003/2008 for SAN allocations including various multipath configurations.
Hands-on experience implementing and supporting highly available, clustered redundant storage solutions. Experience in implementing disaster recovery a definitive plus.
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructures.
Working knowledge of monitoring/alerting systems such as Solarwinds, SCOM or like systems.
Some knowledge of file and volume management, clustering and replication, backup and recovery solutions, high availability, storage consolidation, performance tuning, and TCP/IP a definitive plus.
Must be able to support off-hours on-call.
Strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills including ability to perform root cause analysis for preventative analysis.
Capable of independently solving simple to moderately complex problems
Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills including mentoring junior staff.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a diversified workload.
Demonstrated ability to write to update tickets with status and communicate daily /weekly status. Use of Microsoft Visio and SharePoint to effectively document and maintain system documentation.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of operations and engineering staff, clients services.
Day In and Day Out
Works closely with other operations staff, engineering and client services to insure LiveOffice services are available 24x7.
Design, implement and manage tiered storage architecture to meet our services 24x7.
Handle problem tickets, change tickets, requests for information, data and status as needed.
Insure all storage/SAN hardware have required monitors and alerts enabled and configured in requisite monitoring systems.
Independently delivers complete, high quality storage build-outs per operations & engineering instructions.
Escalates to senior and/or management resources when necessary to insure completeness and quality.
Develop scripts and automation to improve operations productivity and lower cost of operations
Allocates local servers storage per standard configurations or engineering recommendations.
Works with Systems Engineers to implement storage solutions which provide high performance, data protection and cost effective use of available storage
Works with Network Engineers to install, manage, and configure NAS based storage and insure overall system and network security
