Sr. Systems Engineer/Architect Empyrean Benefit Solutions
To fulfill this role, the Senior Systems Engineer will:
Assist in development of IT roadmap pertaining to system hardware and platforms
Architect solutions based on IT Roadmap
Research and select of technology solutions
Review current environment and architect solutions for improvement
Maintaining the effective operation of the network servers
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with hardware, software, Server 2008/2008 SQL servers, Windows, XP, desktop issues, and connectivity issues
Design, Implementations and support of 2003/2008/SQL/Linux servers
Maintaining/Administration of AD/linux, file, shares and user accounts and permissions
Hands on working knowledge of SQL server database configuration and database copies
LAN/WAN/Wireless Technologies
2nd level support of desktops, local/network printers
Administration and support of corporate email (Exchange)
Provide and maintain standard images that will aid in the rapid deployment of systems to the client.
Perform server maintenance tasks including patches and Operating System upgrades.
Ensuring that all drives , patches, and software versions are up to date and available to IS staff on the network
Maintain all virus updates and patches utilizing McAfee EPO
Maintain backup routines and troubleshoot issues
Responds to alerts delivered by internal monitoring system
Ability to write and utilize scripting for automation and daily work
Ability to design, implement and maintain DHCP scopes and DNS
Ability to design, implement and maintain GPO?s
Develop a thorough understanding of the IT environment and enterprise applications.
Ensure the technology is kept current by utilizing software distribution tools and making hardware upgrade recommendations.
Creating, updating and closing all incident tickets in a timely manner.
Create and maintain documentation
Assist with strategic planning, systems integration and manageability issues.
PGP/GPG Encryption support
Completion of assigned projects
Additional support of systems as required
Qualifications
The Sr. Systems Engineer/Administrator should have some formal training from an Information Technology program in addition to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification (not required); additional certification(s) considered a plus include: CCNA, CCNP, CCISP. MOM, SMS, MCSE, Linux.
5 to 10 years of solid professional experience (including project management and implementation)
Must be familiar with remote management technologies, LANs, WANs, data center environments and DR sites.
Microsoft - Windows Server and desktop operating systems
Server build and configuration
Ability to effectively use server tools
Familiar with Server and desktop hardware, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, IBM and Dell hardware.
Microsoft SQL server
Familiarity with SQL database administration
Microsoft Server 2003/2008
Linux servers ? builds, configuration and administration
Apache, IIS
Load balancing with NLB and Ha proxy
Working knowledge of SAN?s, Data Arrays and provisioning storage lunds
Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook.
A solid understanding security practices within the server environment
Solid understand of data center environments
Virtualization (VMware)
Backup software administration (Netbackup/Networker/ or like product)
Administration of endpoint AV/Encryption product such as McAfee, Symantec, Trend
Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010, Project, Visio
Worked with monitoring tools
Scripting
Disaster recovery replication, d-dupe
Good communication skills and work effectively within team environment
