Labcyte Inc. seeks a highly motivated candidate to join its R&D System Engineering group. This position involves the development of new liquid handling instrumentation, process optimization, and sustaining Labcyte?s existing capital equipment and consumable products. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently and as a member of multi-disciplined development teams, executing tasks on-time and to spec. Development responsibilities may include laboratory consumables, system specification and design, algorithm development for new features, design verification testing, and technology transfer to Manufacturing.
BS/MS/PhD in Engineering or Physics
5-10 years of experience in the development and test of analytical instrumentation
Experience with liquid handling or life science instrumentation
Skills and Attributes Required:
Superior problem solving skills
Analytical, methodical, and detail-oriented in planning, experimentation, and analysis
Demonstrated ability to integrate, test, and troubleshoot electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems
Ability to write macros and test routines
Experience with MATLAB or similar engineering analysis tools
Tenacious and deadline driven
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated contribution in delivering capital equipment instrumentation from concept to market
Experienced with lab measurement tools for electrical, optical, and mechanical technologies
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
Modeling of physical systems
Understanding of fluids, and fluid interface issues.
Good understanding of image or signal processing
Experience using statistics and DOE methods for process optimization
Ability to design test fixtures
Project management experience
Some knowledge of chemistry and good lab practices
Work with team to define detailed technical specs
Participate in research and design targeting new features and methods
Support engineering team in testing of subsystems
Lead definition of system integration plan
Lead system integration
Define and execute the design verification test plan
Define and execute product validation test plan
Develop procedures and required tools for system test, for both Development and Mfg.
Train Mfg. and Service personnel on system test procedures
Support Mfg. personnel during production ramp-up
