As a Sr. Systems Engineer working on Five9?s Development team, your mission will be to provide support for development activities for a new Software-as-a-Service Call Center platform. This position is located in San Ramon, CA.You will deliver solutions to deploy, manage and monitor infrastructure services on a fleet of blade servers running Linux OS. You will design and develop solutions for monitoring and alarming to ensure high availability of the SaaS platform. You will run performance tests to evaluate system capacity, and conduct assessment of the platform reliability and scalability.
The essential duties include but not limited to the following:
Configures and maintains development systems in Datacenters
Configures and supports Lab systems and intranet Web sites
Prepares and execute test plans focused on integration with 3d party products and solutions, performance evaluation and reliability assessment
Works closely with other members of Technical Operations, Engineering and Product Management; reports to a Development Manager
The most successful candidates for this role will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong coding skills, systems architecture and design, great communication skills and a desire to tackle the complex problems of scale. We are particularly interested in systems engineers and UNIX programmers familiar with aspects of running SaaS services at scale. Deep networking knowledge and UNIX internals are also highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of proven experience in system administration with the emphasis on Unix-based OS (e.g. Linux, Solaris)
Experience with TCP/IP-based networking (including configuration and troubleshooting)
Basic DB administration skills (e.g. with MySQL)
Solid troubleshooting skills on system and application levels
Working knowledge of scripting tools and languages (e.g. shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
Practical experience with VoIP and SIP
Familiarity of PSTN and TDM technologies and standards
Practical experience in monitoring and support of distributed production systems
Good command of written English
B.S. degree in CS
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with Fault-tolerant and Highly-available systems
Experience in Performance Testing and Capacity Planning
Familiarity with methods used for Reliability Assessment
Programming experience in any major language (e.g. C/C++, Java, etc.)
Practical experience with enterprise-grade storage
Working knowledge of SQL databases and no-SQL solutions
Software Testing and/or Development in any major language (e.g. C/C++, Java)
Practical experience with Virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware ESXi, KVM, OpenStack, etc.)
Familiarity with Software Configuration Management Systems
Familiarity with Source Control and Continuous Integration platforms
Familiarity with Monitoring Systems
