Our management team is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who will be energized by the dynamics of an entrepreneurial work environment. If you thrive on change, run with new challenges, and you?re interested in what you?ve read so far, you have the qualities we?re looking for in a candidate.
Play key role in ensuring the company complies with various tax laws and regulations and stays abreast of various tax laws and regulations.
Effectively communicate to the Controller and CFO (verbal and written) tax law, how it applies to the company, and recommendations for compliance, including cost and other implications for such decisions.
Prepare and file multi-jurisdiction tax returns (i.e. state and local sales/use tax returns, excise tax returns, franchise tax returns, property tax returns)
Conduct research regarding state and local taxes and sales/use tax nexus and compliance requirements
Conduct taxability research for various products and services
Obtain appropriate reseller/exemption certificates from customers
Respond to various tax notices received from agencies
Be liaison with external Accounting firm on corporate income tax returns
Provide guidance on other tax issues as needed (i.e. payroll tax, vendor invoices, equity transactions)
Assist with international Value Added Tax compliance work
GENERAL ACCOUNTING AND OTHER DUTIES:
Assist with month-end financial statement close process
Assist with various audits (financial statements, workers compensation, bank, 401K)
File and track Statement of Information and annual Periodic Report filings
Obtain proper business licenses and other compliance requirements for the company
Ad hoc projects and all duties as directed or modified
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting required, advanced Taxation degree preferred
2-4 years in Public Accounting (Big 4 or regional firm preferred), 3+ years in a related position in a corporate environment, or combination
Experienced in the Corporate Tax and General Accounting areas
State and local tax expert
Experience with International taxation a plus
Solid understanding of GAAP and financial statement mechanics
Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and tax research software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including problem identification, analysis, action planning and execution required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
Excellent time management skills; works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
