To complement our rapid growth, we are actively searching for a talented and experienced Sr. Java Telephony Engineer to join our Product and Development team. Our headquarters is located in San Ramon, CA, and we continue to expand globally. As a Sr. Java Telephony Engineer, you will be developing software for a new Telephony Application Service that will interface with the Five9 Cloud Call Center platform.
Develop initial implementations of projects that contribute to evaluating new architectural principals and provide a seed for product development.
Contribute to evolving existing applications to the new Telephony Application Service infrastructure.
Communicate architectural directions and concepts to the Product Management and Development teams.
Evaluate open source software for inclusion in the Telephony Application Service
Work with the IT team to integrate the Telephony Application Service into the Five9 Service Environment
Work closely with the Development Team and Product Management in an Agile environment
5+ years of proven coding experience in Java, HTTP Servlets. Spring, JMS experience desired.
2+ years of development utilizing SOA Design Patterns, preferably associated with Telephony Application development
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Experience producing and consuming RESTful web service APIs.
Experience building large scale distributed Web Service Applications that include Telephony operations.
Understanding of VoIP and SIP technologies and solutions; prior exposure to carrier-scale SIP solutions; familiarity with PSTN and TDM technologies is a plus.
Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience of SIP building blocks: SIP proxies, SBC, Media Servers and software-based Call Engines (FreeSWITCH or Asterisk).
Interfacing FreeSWITCH to Java Web Services environments. Use of modxmlcurl a plus.
Good working knowledge of source control solutions (e.g. Perforce)
Basic knowledge of DSP media processing operations such as DTMF, call progress analysis (CPA) , answering machine detection (AMD), and multipoint conferencing (MCU)
Familiarity with voice codecs and standards
B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Understanding of high availability concepts and patterns.
Experience in building cloud-based telephony solutions and in integrating with ITSPs
Understanding of performance based software systems. Ability to evaluate and offer alternate solutions that meet system wide performance requirements
Expereince with session border controllers (SBCs) and media gateways
Familiarity with STUN/TURN/ICE implementations
Experience with WebRTC
Working knowledge of SQL databases and NoSQL solutions
Additional plus: personal GitHub account with active participation in community projects
M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent
