Staff Engineer, Microwave IC Design
This job opening is for the design of RF& Microwave ICs (up to 40GHz) with Peregrine?s UltraCMOS technology for commercial and industrial applications. Product lines include high performance RF switches, phase shifters, digital step attenuators, power amplifiers, mixers, VCOs, prescalers and PLLs. The candidate will lead the IC design and validation, also technically support the entire product life cycle from product definition through product release. As a part of a cross-functional product development team, the candidate will support other essential disciplines including marketing, applications, project management, characterization, production and test engineering.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
Focus on high frequency, high power IC product development
Help product concept and define specification
Circuit design and simulation, and layout design
Design ultra-wideband matching networks on chip or substrate using LC components and transmission lines; perform EM simulation on DIE, substrate and package using EM tools using HFSS or ADS EM tools.
Validate product performances using lab equipment, such as probe station, VNA, SA, PM.
Oversee IC layout and high frequency EVK design
Support other team members for their projects
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements
Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In order to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and competencies:
Good understanding of semiconductor devices, such as MOSFET, Diode, BJT, etc.
Deep understanding of functionality and key RF matrix of one or more RF blocks such as power amplifier, power limiters, switches, LNAs, mixers, VCOs and frequency dividers, etc.
Demonstrated complex transistor level IC design capability with Cadence or ADS, including layout
Strong understanding microwave and electro-magnetic theory
Experience with MMIC design
Ability to configure a 40GHz measurement system for characterization
Strong skills in verbal and written communications
Clear presentation and documentation
Strong desire to excel and to lead
The following traits are highly valued:
RF system level knowledge
Experience in PIN diode and schottky diode power limiter design
Experience in high frequency module design
Experience in high power RF measurement
Education and Experience:
BS with minimum 7 years of experience / MS with minimum 5 years of experience / PhD with minimum 3 years of experience
