Omneon MediaGrid is a scalable high performance shared storage system for storing, sharing and serving media files. Using standard IT hardware and high speed Ethernet networking, MediaGrid is highly scalable and includes a built-in clustered file system designed and tuned for digital media workflows. As we continue to experience growth, we are looking for an excellent Senior Performance Engineer to drive the performance testing for our storage product.
This team member will be responsible for initiating and developing cutting edge performance and scalability features perform analysis to identify product bottlenecks. The performance engineer will participate in the testing effort of enterprise storage solution. He/she will lead/test and critique software components and interfaces in great technical depth, write test programs to assure high product quality, and develop advanced test tools to increase productivity and efficiency.
We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer who is primarily responsible for conducting performance analysis and benchmarking, and also provide feedback and advice to product development. Based upon design and requirements documents, the performance engineer will identify and collect the necessary metrics to ensure the performance, stability and scalability of the product.
The successful candidate must have good communication skills, a willingness to learn and great problem solving skills.
Job Functions:
Design, develop and maintain internal and external Performance Benchmarks.
Conduct performance analysis findings to product teams and senior management.
Participate actively in functional, system and regression testing activities
Design and develop performance test plans, test cases based upon requirements and Customer/Field use cases
Work closely with the development teams to analyze the performance issues, debug and resolve any issues.
Participate in product functional reviews, test specifications, documentation review.
Collaborates effectively with peer engineers and architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas to deliver end-to-end performance quality in our technology and customer experience.
Leads the team technically in terms of understanding business use cases, internal/external performance Benchmarks, debugging performance issues, designing automation framework, decision making on issues, technical assistance in performance analysis and tuning software/hardware/OS etc.
Influences development managers to insure appropriate levels of Performance quality on owned technologies.
Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management
Delivers sizing and capacity planning documents
Required Job Skills:
4 to 8 years of experience in Product development or performance testing
Proven experience in identifying bottlenecks & measuring performance in server or enterprise applications
2+ years Performance and Tuning experience with file systems.
In-depth understanding of large complex software systems to isolate defects, reproduce defects, assess risk and understand varied customer deployments.
Hands on experience with automation using Perl, Python or shell scripts
Ability to work with customers, developers, documentation, product management, support staff
Good communication skills, a willingness to learn and great problem solving skills.
