Job Qualifications (basic job description):
Aurora is looking for an individual to accomplish financial analysis and strategic planning for Ongoing Business, Growth Initiatives and Strategic Ventures. This role is aimed at improving strategic decision making and requires timely and accurate analysis and planning for ongoing pursuits and new ventures.
This role will work under the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer:
Manages project-related activities in the areas of Strategic Venture Analysis; Venture Formation Modeling; P&L /financial analysis, operations analysis, and investment planning.
Develops, and executes financial portions of new venture and pursuit planning with accurate analytical models, using a variety of data and assumptions that can be easily explained to executive management. Brief results to senior managers, investors, and others.
Part of negotiations and due diligence teams; often overseas and potentially for extended periods of time.
Assist the CSO in monthly and quarterly, as well as annual and multi-year strategic plans and financial forecasts for associated company strategies, typically working with the broader organization to understand and test key forecast assumptions and run alternate scenarios.
Lead for tracking and analysis of growth plans and associated budgets, using business and operations analytical tools to understand root-cause issues and predict variance to expectations.
Participate in monthly and annual Growth and Strategy reviews with emphasis on stratifying plans to reflect internal priorities and external market opportunity.
Uses the information gathered and business trends to improve standard reports and metrics.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
2-5 years of experience, in a corporate finance or planning role, investment banking, strategy, or related.
Prior aerospace strategic planning or consulting experience preferred but not required
BA in Business or related field required, MBA or related strongly preferred
Strong strategic, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of demonstrated quantitative and finance skills. Financial modeling experience and proficiency in excel and other analytical software a must.
Personal competencies for success include the ability to master both strategic and operational issues and the ability to dynamically handle multiple competing priorities while remaining even keeled and above board.
Successful candidate should have an intense attention to detail, be full of intellectual curiosity, be comfortable with ambiguity, and be willing to defend a position with passion and facts.
