The Job
SpaceX designs and builds complete vehicle assemblies in-house including: primary structures, liquid bi-propellant rocket engines, avionics electronics, and various ground support equipment. This position pertains primarily to the analysis of primary vehicle structures.
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer for our team with strong analysis background.
Responsibilities
- Develop load paths and conduct preliminary sizing of structures using both metallic and composite materials.
- Perform structural analysis of primary and secondary structures (including Finite Element Modeling and hand calculations).
- Work with a team to perform rapid conceptual design, analysis, and testing cycles on development hardware (may include CAD modeling and testing oversight as needed)
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other analysts.
Requirements
- Minimum BSME, BSCE or BS degree in related area
- Experience with NASTRAN, FEMAP, MATLAB or LS-DYNA (or similar) software is desired
- Experience with Unigraphics NX6 (or later version) is a big plus
