Spend your summer interning at one of Washington?s greatest places to work! The Motley Fool is a financial media company based just outside of DC in Alexandria, VA. We produce articles, newsletters, books, podcasts, and other products that teach people how to become better investors. The Fool is a fun, collaborative working environment with great benefits, like free fitness and yoga classes, and a metro-accessible office!
We?re currently accepting applications for our Summer 2013 internship program. This is an hourly paid program lasting 8 weeks, and it will start in mid-June. The deadline for applying is Friday, January 4, 2013.
Are you interested in investing, writing, editing, or software development? We?re hiring interns in the following areas:
Investing:
If you want to learn more about investing in one summer than you ever have before, this is the internship for you! You?ll join analysts-in-training to research companies and discuss their potential as investments. You?ll get to make stock pitches, attend product meetings, and complete individual and group projects (for example: return attribution, portfolio analysis, channel checks, sector/industry overviews, and competitor analyses). You?ll also write articles for Fool.com, and all the while you?ll receive the guidance of some of the Fool?s top analysts. This internship is for the passionate investor ? someone who is already learning and wants to learn more. Writing chops, Excel skills, and an understanding of basic accounting will help you succeed in this role.
Fool.com:
Interns in this fast-paced department will write short articles for Fool.com, film video stock pitches, work on the video production process, fact-check, and do competitor research to present to editorial leadership. An interest in investing, finance, economics, business, or journalism are all pluses. You?ll end the summer having learned about investing, writing, and multimedia.
Blog Network:
Much of your summer will be spent reviewing blog posts, so we are looking for someone who has both an editorial eye for detail and a financial nose to sniff out which investment theses don?t sound right. Software Development:
Software Development interns will work on one of several small teams that will enhance and support either our infrastructure, ticker data, or our newsletter, content, or international sites. In addition to the ability to duck instinctively at the sound of Nerf gun fire, candidates should have experience in (or a desire to learn) technologies that may include object oriented programming, .NET, C#, MSBuild, Wordpress, PHP, Python, and SQL Server.
