Summer 2014 Internships
Spend your summer interning at one of Washington?s greatest places to work! The Motley Fool is a financial media company based just outside of DC in Alexandria, VA. We produce articles, newsletters, books, podcasts, and other products that teach people how to become better investors. The Fool is a fun, collaborative working environment with great benefits, like free healthy snacks, yoga classes, and a metro-accessible office!
We?re currently accepting applications for our Summer 2014 internship program. This is an hourly paid program lasting 8 weeks, and it will start in mid-June.
Deadline to Apply: January 31 2014
We?re hiring interns in the following areas:
If you want to learn more about investing in one summer than you ever have before, this is the internship for you! You?ll join analysts-in-training to research companies and discuss their potential as investments. You?ll get to make stock pitches, attend product meetings, and complete individual and group projects (for example: return attribution, portfolio analysis, channel checks, sector/industry overviews, and competitor analyses). You?ll also write articles for Fool.com, and all the while you?ll receive the guidance of some of the Fool?s top analysts. This internship is for the passionate investor ? someone who is already learning and wants to learn more. Writing chops, Excel skills, and an understanding of basic accounting will help you succeed in this role.
If you love to write and are interested in investing, finance, economics, business, or journalism, you?ll have a great summer working as a Fool.com intern. This fast-paced department generates hundreds of articles and videos per day. You?ll greatly improve your understanding of investing and the publishing industry, and will have the opportunity to own projects other interns in this industry would never have the autonomy to do. You?ll work with our sector bureaus to write articles for Fool.com and our premium investing services, liaison with the video team to support video production (and even create your own videos!), and organize projects supporting our goal to increase the number of Fool.com readers who subscribe to premium services.
Our mission is To Help the World Invest Better, and a big part of that is spreading Foolish investing principles across the globe. If you have a passion for international business/relations/studies, as well as a love of the Fool and our brand, you?d be a great candidate for our International Intern. Bonus points if you have lived abroad or are proficient in a foreign language! You?d work with the teams that run our operations outside of the U.S., in addition to our tech, marketing, investing, and editorial departments in our Alexandria office, to optimize our marketing messages, build our editorial efforts on our site, and make our products great. You?d get exposure to specific countries and regions while learning the Fool?s free-to-fee business model.
It takes a long time to attract a new customer ? and just seconds to lose one! Our Retention Marketing Team makes sure our members are able to take full advantage of everything our premium investing services have to offer. If you have strong persuasive writing skills, a basic understanding of HTML, and an interest in marketing and customer service, this is the place for you! The Retention Marketing intern will work on renewal marketing, the welcome experience that shows new members how to use our subscription services, and the service experience for existing members. As the Retention Marketing intern, you'd get to work with Fools from all over the company to help determine how to best keep our members coming back to the Fool again and again.
Our Business Intelligence team transforms Fool.com?s site usage and customer data into valuable services our members want. If you're looking for more experience with web analytics tools, information report creation and delivery, web marketing approaches, consultancy, and interaction with data analytics customers, the Data/Web Analysis internship is for you! Ideal candidates have prior experience with database design, writing SQL queries, Google Analytics and web site tracking, and conversion marketing and marketing funnels. You'll spend the summer interacting with departments all over the company, working with Web analytics managers, cross-functional technology teams, reporting and data analysts, and marketing managers.
The Business Intelligence Team is also looking for a Consumer Research intern to work on research and analysis projects designed to investigate and understand what different cross-sections of customers want and need, and how different marketing and product concepts may meet those needs. The ideal candidate has
? A passion for collecting and exploring numbers to identify business opportunities
? A willingness to seek out, gather, and analyze market and competitive information
? Strong communication skills, especially verbal communications, and experience talking one-on-one with members or customers
? Familiarity with market and marketing research approaches and practices
? Experience with tools like Excel and Powerpoint
? Ability to work within a team environment
? Ability to present analytical findings to non-analytical audiences
? Strong project management skills
