SpaceX is looking for the most talented computer science and information technology students for an amazing, hands-on summer 2012 internship at our Cape Canaveral, FL launch facility. When hiring interns at SpaceX, we look for students who have had hands-on development and engineering experience through projects, team involvement, and previous internships as well as demonstrated success in their academic careers.
The launch facility is where the action happens and is the heart of our launch engineering - not to mention you would get the chance to live close to the world famous beaches in Cocoa Beach, NASA and a short drive from exciting Orlando, FL. There aren't too many places where you can work steps away from a rocket launch pad, hang out at the beach on the weekend and drive to some of the best attractions in the country. Who we are looking for:

• Students majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology who are available to work at our launch facility in Cape Canaveral, FL full-time May â€" August 2012 (or at least 12 weeks in the summer of 2012).
• Someone who has had previous internships in an IT Support, Systems, or Data Storage role or significant information technology-related project work in or outside of school.
• 3.5 GPA or higher.
• Strong interest in the following technologies: Linux, Windows, laptops, workstations, servers, data storage, and virtualization.
• A student who is ready to work hard and make meaningful contributions to a professional team while gaining invaluable experience.

A little bit about us:
Here at SpaceX, you will obtain invaluable hands-on technical experience that you can't learn in a classroom. Our engineers will help you to roll up your sleeves and apply text book theory and lab experience to creating solutions for real aerospace and technology challenges. You will gain practical experience by participating in actual software and system development projects.
SpaceX builds rockets and spacecraft from the ground up; including electronics, software, vehicle structures, and engines. In-house development includes nearly all flight critical custom components amounting to approximately 80% of our vehicles by value.
The company's mission is to revolutionize space access by increasing reliability and reducing cost, eventually by a factor of ten. Our current product line includes the Falcon family of launch vehicles and the Dragon spacecraft.
Falcon rockets provide the lowest-cost per-kilogram for space access and can be used for both low and geosynchronous earth orbits. Dragon is designed to be manned-flight rated and can be configured as a transportation capsule or an in-orbit platform called DragonLab.
