This summer, we will host interns across the business to gain experience in our fast-paced luxury ecommerce organization for 10 weeks, from June 9, 2014 through August 15, 2014. This is an unpaid, for-academic credit only internship. All interns are required to provide a letter of credit from their college or university and participate for the entirety of the program. The intern will work alongside the sales team and will learn the work of a sales organization in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment. He or she will experience the entire sales cycle from prospecting through negotiation and preparing the partner for a live sale on Gilt City. This will include searching for prospects, monitoring competition, assisting with creating opportunities in Salesforce and reviewing the sale outcome in sale reports. The intern will sit in on weekly sales meetings and collaborate on specific projects each week (in addition to longer-term projects) that will provide in-depth exposure to sales and marketing.
The experience will also include full training on Salesforce, the opportunity to conduct industry and competitive analysis and organizing and attending sales calls and client meetings. With exposure to all aspects of the business, this is a great opportunity for someone seeking a multi-faceted and fast-paced e-commerce experience.
The internship will culminate in a final project that will include a PowerPoint presentation exhibiting a creative sale strategy or program. The project should include a list of prospects in New York, an overarching theme/collection, a list of target sales that the intern will include in the collection and a strategy to reach a new audience.
Create prospect lists
Prepare for weekly sales meetings, i.e. revenue reporting and weekly performance
Organize the sales calendar
Sales support (learning the sales cycle)
Organize lead generation and assign leads in Salesforce; general maintenance in Salesforce
Support client communication
Assist in tracking daily leads and suggesting potential partners
Create vendor kits, book appointments and attend sales meetings
Track industry trends and conduct daily competitive analysis (searching for exclusivity violations)
Research and investigate events, festivals and opportunities in the local market
Stay abreast of industry events, social media outlets and publications
Daily and weekly sale reports demonstrating sale performance (send out reminders to curators to reach out to those vendors who performed)
Eligible to receive academic credit from university/college
Currently pursuing a Bachelor?s degree in communications, business, marketing, advertising or other related field
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
Excellent organization and communication skills
An interest in the luxury lifestyle industry or hospitality is a plus
