The successful candidate must be highly skilled at personnel recruitment, development, retention and transactional management of employee relations issues. He/She must also be high-energy, interactive and have high attention to detail.
Specimen Processing and Pre-Analytical:
SLAB or equivalent LIS system ideally in a high-volume setting.
Basic receiving, laboratory registration and pre-analytical workflow.
Productivity and Error Monitoring.
Monitoring pending lists for outstanding orders.
Specimen/order acceptance and rejection criteria and processes.
Productivity and quality metrics.
Human Resources Management Policy and Practice:
Workforce Planning and Management.
Recruitment & Hiring.
Continuous improvement ? Process-oriented and lean concepts.
Metrics ? Production, cost and quality.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Support all lab operations and functions, including monitoring and requesting supplies and materials to maintain lab supply inventory.
Manage laboratory reagent and supply inventory to minimize waste and to reduce operating costs.
Recordkeeping and documentation to comply with Quality System Regulations and corporate policies.
Maintain and ensure cleaning and calibration of lab instruments and equipment by sending out required equipment or ensuring in-house PMs are performed on time.
Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on assigned equipment.
Train others in routine maintenance and assure it is performed and documented properly.
Unpack incoming samples and return shippers to source as determined by Operations.
Ability to communicate effectively with client offices to relay results, receive messages and use judgment when to notify supervisor of concern when appropriate.
Utilize Laboratory Information System to assign accession numbers, enter orders and print instrument work lists or other lists as required. Utilize other reporting tools within the LIS as needed, including report generation.
Supervise and manage the laboratory assistants and laboratory assistant supervisors.
Generate and maintain SOP pertaining to the laboratory assistant duties.
Ensure personnel are trained and following relevant SOP.
B.S./B.A. Biological Sciences.
3-5 Years, High-volume setting and/or Six Sigma/TQM environment.
in a lower-volume setting.
Excellent typing and organizational skills.
Proficiency including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and has previous experience with at least one Laboratory Information System.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines, good team approach, good written and verbal communication skills, administrative skills, and above-average computer skills.
Good documentation skills and attention to detail are essential.
