GENERAL PURPOSE: Supervise the day to day tasks and activities of the Network Services Department.
Responsibilities include supervision of all tasks, projects, issues and cases assigned to the Network Services Department,
including supervising installations, repairs, upgrades, projects tasks, documentation, and servicing of maritime satellite
systems aboard vessels, oil rigs, military vessels, and other sites.
? Supervise and ensure that all issues, tasks, upgrades, installations and projects are documented in detail.
? Act as point of contact and person responsible for all tasks, issues and project for the Network Services
? Ensure communication between technicians, interdepartmental staff and customers throughout the completion of
? Supervise and prioritize issues and tasks to ensure fast and cost effective resolutions.
? Project management to ensure proper communication internally and externally for all projects to be completed
efficiently and successfully.
? Develop procedures and documentation to improve productivity.
? Review problems and projects on a weekly basis with team members.
? Schedule time off for departmental employees and find replacements for shifts, holidays, and days off.
? Provide technical support to technicians during standard and non-standard workdays or hours to support 24/7-365
? May be required to cover shifts in the early morning and late night.
? May be required to travel at a moments notice.
? Other related tasks as may be assigned.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
? BS degree in Computer Science or related field plus 4 years experience with project implementation and
application development or equivalent experience required.
? Must have working Advanced knowledge of Cisco Networks, iDirect product technology, Telephony, satellite
terminology, WAN and LAN Infrastructure.
? Must have experience within a customer service environment, managing multiple resources and projects.
? Wide range of business exposure a plus.
? CCNA, CCNP certifications and MPLS knowledge a plus
? Strong written and oral communication skills required.
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: This position will report directly to Manager of Network Services. Daily contact
and interaction with operations staff, company personnel, customers, vendors and contract services personnel.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: Heavy telephone and computer use. Able to read and note equipment settings on
small LCD screens. International and/or domestic travel may be required.
